CLOCKstep:MULTI Beta

CLOCKstep:MULTI Version 2.0 Beta 1
(August 11th, 2026)

Welcome and thank you for testing Beta 1 for the upcoming release of CLOCKstep:MULTI Version 2.0.

First, answers to some questions you might already have:

"Will this update work on older CLOCKstep:MULTI units?"
Absolutely! Anyone with an officially released CLOCKstep:MULTI unit can install this Beta regardless of what the unit looks like on the outside. And when the new release is final, it will be a free upgrade.

"Will this update preserve my Presets and Settings?"
Yes, Beta 1 will not overwrite your presets or your settings. However, be aware that any subsequent Betas and official release of Version 2.0 may be a different story. It'll be clearly stated when that time comes.

"Will I be able to rollback from Beta 1 to the latest official release of version 1.1?"
Yes. All you have to do to return to the latest version 1.1 release is run the update from that download.

"Does the new Assist feature in Tempo Match replace Follow Beat?"
No, not at all. Assist is for recorded and mixed audio. Follow Beat is specifically tuned to working alongside a live drummer.

What's New

The big new thing is Tempo Match. This is an entirely new screen that provides fine control over aspects of the clock while it is running. The features of Tempo Match are: Trim, Nudge, Align and Assist.

With Assist, CLOCKstep:MULTI is able to adjust its tempo and phase by analyzing mixed song audio in real-time, which by was the largest effort, and most highly requested feature, in this build.

Watch the video for all the details of how to access and use Tempo Match.

Another minor feature is a new Global Setting that allows the Start/Pause, Pulse/Stop and the Align buttons to respond to Release instead of Press. That means you can hold down these buttons until you are ready to activate them. Some people will find this gives a more precise control over timing their actions (including me).

What's Not Working

Right now, the Input Audio Level has been set for Unity Gain and the old Input Threshold Calibration screen is gone. An entirely new version of this will  return in the next build, which will be far easier to use than it was in 1.x. What this means for now is that DAW Audio Sync and Follow Beat (Audio) are not working as they rely heavily on this calibration. (Follow Beat for MIDI should still function as before).

Video Instructions

At this time, the only instructions for using any of the new features are in this video.
